Find a Natural Frame

Look for something in your foreground to "frame" your subject. It adds character to your photo and conveys depth in the scene. A natural frame can be natural or manmade: arches, doorways, windows, tree leaves, caves. We call it natural because, unlike a wall frame, it's a frame within the photo itself (kinda meta).

Examples

I found an arch to frame this ancient site in Rome.
While not as obvious as an arch, the tree leaves here envelope the tower, and form a natural frame around it.
