ISO Side Effect

The image gets brighter when you raise the ISO, but the side effect is a more "noisy" or grainy image. Unless there's a specific, creative reason for a grainy image, we usually desire a clean-looking picture. So, always keep the ISO as low as possible (ISO 100 in most cameras). There are times you'll need to raise the ISO (when the shutter and aperture aren't able to get you enough light), but the thumb rule is to keep the ISO as low as possible.
